A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and dynamic school in Exeter. This is a long-term role where you will play an essential part in helping children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs reach their full potential.
Job Responsibility:
Work alongside the classroom teacher to provide tailored support for students with SEMH and complex educational needs
Assist in delivering individualised and group interventions to support students' social, emotional, and academic development
Support students in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom culture
Liaise with other staff and parents to ensure the best outcomes for the students
Requirements:
A minimum of 6 months experience working in a UK school setting
Proven experience working with children with complex educational needs, specifically SEMH
Ability to engage, motivate, and support students with challenging behaviours
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
A DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is mandatory
Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship provided)
