Job Description:

We are looking for a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with children who require behavioural support in a Leeds-based primary school. This role is initially from April to July, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The position involves supporting children with challenging behaviour, contributing to their emotional, social, and academic growth within a mainstream primary school setting.

Job Responsibility:

Provide 1:1 support to children with challenging behaviour, helping them engage in learning
Implement positive behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and social development
Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create tailored support plans
Assist with de-escalation techniques and provide a calm, structured learning environment
Encourage children to develop confidence, independence, and positive interactions
Support the academic and personal growth of pupils, adapting approaches to suit individual needs

Requirements:

Experience working with children with challenging behaviour in a school or similar setting
Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques
Ability to build trusting relationships and provide emotional support
A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to learning support
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
