Job Description:

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our exceptional school. The school offers innovative education for children aged 7-19 with autism spectrum conditions, small class sizes, and individualized learning plans. This role includes assisting teachers, creating positive learning environments, and supporting students' needs while promoting safety and well-being.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support to students in the classroom: Assist teachers with lessons, provide individualised support, and help create a positive learning environment
  • collaborate with the class teacher: Work closely with the teacher to implement personalized learning plans and ensure each student's needs are met
  • support students with a range of needs: Provide help with activities, behaviour management, and personal care as required
  • create a positive and encouraging atmosphere: Promote a sense of safety, belonging, and well-being
  • learn and grow: Committed to ongoing professional development and providing training and qualifications, including QTS and HLTA opportunities

Requirements:

  • A valid DBS check
  • a full driving licence (preferred)
  • genuine passion for working with children with autism spectrum conditions
  • patient, caring, and enthusiastic about supporting learners
  • experience working in education, children's homes, or EYFS (desirable)
  • experience with Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECs) or other communication tools for non-verbal learners (desirable)
  • experience with speech & language or BSL (desirable)

What we offer:
  • Term-time only contract
  • competitive salary £19,000 per year, rising to £20,500 after 2 years of successful service as a Senior TA
  • opportunity to work in the care setting for 16 hours per week during school holidays, adding an additional £2,000 to salary after 6 months
