Job Description:

Robert Half is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented senior accountant to join our team on a contract basis, supporting one of our undisclosed manufacturing or construction clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional with a strong background in cost accounting, job costing, and financial reporting within the manufacturing or construction industries. Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee financial reporting and ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations
  • Manage month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
  • Maintain and analyze job cost accounting and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to ensure project profitability and accurate cost tracking
  • Perform cost analysis on materials, labor, and overhead to improve financial efficiency
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide insights for management decision-making
  • Reconcile inventory, fixed assets, and depreciation schedules, ensuring proper cost allocation
  • Prepare and review accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions, ensuring timely processing and vendor compliance
  • Support audit preparation, including financial documentation and compliance reporting
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales and use tax for manufacturing or construction-related transactions
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and efficiency

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the manufacturing or construction industry
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
  • Experience with industry-specific ERP and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage 300, Viewpoint, SAP, or NetSuite)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a project-driven environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, engineers, and operations teams
