Job Description:

Randstad is partnering with the Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) to find a Senior Criminal Lawyer based in Tasmania. The role involves providing culturally appropriate legal representation, mentoring junior staff, fostering a team environment, and building effective relationships with stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

Provide culturally appropriate legal advice and representation to clients in a broad range of matters
Mentor and supervise junior lawyers
Foster a positive team environment
Build effective partnerships with stakeholders

Requirements:

Significant experience in criminal practice and procedure, with substantial experience in appearance work in the Magistrates Court and experience in the Supreme Court
Demonstrated experience in mentoring and supervising staff, including junior lawyers
The ability to work collaboratively with others and foster a positive team environment
An understanding of the social issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to relate to a wide variety of people
Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, demonstrating a history of maintaining positive and effective partnerships
Registered Legal Practitioner in Tasmania or meet the eligibility requirements to become one
National Police Check
Working with Vulnerable Persons registration
Possession of a valid driver’s license
