Job Description:

Provide senior leadership for developing and advancing Baxter’s global environmental sustainability and energy management strategies, including governing policies (Lean Energy/ISO 50001 program), management system elements, sustainability goals, and other related programmatic activities in alignment with company Corporate Responsibility (CR). The environmental sustainability lead for Baxter will nurture relationships internally among various cross-functional working groups and teams, including Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Communications, Legal, ISC/Operations, Engineering, and EHS&S; as well as outside Baxter to further advance the company’s sustainability goals, including routine engagements with external professional/industry groups, customers and other key partners.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides thought leadership and garners consensus from company leadership on environmental sustainability goals, supporting initiatives, investment areas, and overall execution against plan
  • Provides direct leadership leading environmental sustainability and energy management subject matter authorities and indirect functional leadership for other environmental sustainability professionals across the company
  • Advises company-wide strategy for Protect the Planet goals and initiatives as part of the CR/ESG Strategy and in alignment with the Executive Leadership Team
  • Identifies, models, and communicates energy efficiency improvements, supports preparation of estimates, reasons, and investment proposals required for sustainability initiatives related to waste, water, and energy/GHG goals
  • Coaches, advises, and builds proficiency of EHS&S (7 global direct reports) and Operations staff on ways to improve outcomes
  • collaborates on projects with cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or engineering subject area
  • 15+ years of professional-level experience working within the industrial sector leading environmental compliance, management systems, and sustainability goals
  • Extensive experience interpreting and applying state and federal environmental sustainability regulations, as well as other global environmental regulatory regimes
  • Showed success leading and effectively engaging large teams with a clear vision and positive outcomes in a collaborative environment with a bias for action.
