Job Description:

The selected candidate will be contributing to our team in a non-profit organization managing multiple business units. The role entails providing meticulous financial support and oversight, managing grant allocations, preparing for audit engagements, and ensuring compliance with non-profit accounting standards. The Senior Grant Accountant will be an integral part of maintaining the financial transparency and health of our organization.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee the financial tracking and reporting for active grants, ensuring adherence to grant agreements and funder requirements
Collaborate effectively with auditors, providing precise and timely information during audits
Review, analyze, and reclassify transactions across multiple financial systems to ensure proper categorization and accurate reporting
Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within accounting processes, workflows, and software systems
Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations for accounts, including school-specific funds, grants, and general ledger adjustments
Lead efforts to prepare documents and reconciliations for annual audits, aligning with non-profit accounting practices and regulations
Prepare timely and accurate financial statements for internal leadership and external stakeholders, segmented by each charter school
Actively participate in cross-departmental collaborations to optimize operations across multiple business units
Monitor grant expenditure schedules, prepare invoices for reimbursement requests, and maintain detailed documentation for grant audits
Provide support in budget creation and forecasting initiatives for schools and organizational programs

Requirements:

Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a Grant Accountant
Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
Strong understanding of Accounting Functions
Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Proficiency in Accrual Accounting
Familiarity with Abila MIP software preferred
Expertise in Grant Accounting
Ability to handle Ledger Journal Entries
Knowledge in Adjusting Journal Entries
Proficiency in Account Reconciliation
Experience with Cost Centers

Nice to have:

Familiarity with Abila MIP software
