Job Description:

The Senior System Architecture Engineer is responsible for developing and evolving technical network and service architectures, as well as designing strategies to maintain, enhance, and advance T-Mobile's technology portfolio. Key responsibilities include creating, adapting, or revising detailed schematics for network and service architecture, selecting hardware and software, and defining implementation techniques and processes. The role may involve performing, evaluating, or interpreting network simulations, test results, or studies on innovative technologies. Strong technical documentation and presentation skills are critical for translating sophisticated concepts into understandable terms for diverse audiences. The engineer will also influence and contribute to industry forums.

Job Responsibility:

Architect and design comprehensive IT infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, networking, cloud platforms, and virtualization, to meet business requirements for performance, scalability, and security
Architect and implement specialized infrastructure solutions optimized for AI workloads, including GPU/TPU-based high-performance computing clusters, large-scale data storage systems, and AI model training environments
Integrate industry best practices for security and compliance into infrastructure designs to ensure systems are protected against threats and meet regulatory standards
Understands system protocols, how systems operate and data flows
Aware of current technology benefits and independent study is expected
Expected to lead and deliver complex network and service architecture, design strategies and standards
Deep understanding of the building blocks, interactions, dependencies, and tools required to complete design work
Ability to translate complex technical issues in terms of business impact and business benefits
Drives engineering projects by active contribution to the application of engineering techniques

preparing reports and calculations
Expected to supervise associate and base level engineers as needed
Develops procedures and processes to validate and enhance and optimize network architecture
Creates appropriate validation tests and inspection techniques and effectively documents results
Able to prepare executive summaries of activities and clearly communicate areas of opportunity
Contributes to designs to implement new ideas which improve an existing and new system/process/service
Understands and can apply new industry perspectives to our existing business model
Review existing architecture, design strategies, standards, and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more effectively through industry perspectives
Seeks opportunities to improve designs, processes, or product by reducing cost, improving efficiency, or quality
Proactively contributes during brainstorming sessions
Drives investigations, leading to new technology concepts that may tackle business problems
Technical Writing: Maintains knowledge of existing technology documents
Writes basic documentation on how technology works
Contributes clear documentation on multiple systems and services used
Able to document systems architecture, design strategies, standards, business requirements and technical interpretation
Develops and provides technical data for incorporation into internal presentations that may translate technical issues into business impact
Collaborates with technical teams and utilizes system expertise to deliver technical solutions
Continuously learns and instructs others on existing and new technologies
Contributes to the development of others through mentoring or in house workshops and learning sessions
Influence technology and policy decisions made across the appropriate functional organization around architecture, design strategies and standards
Drives lab and field trial activities in support of Proof of Concept
Contributes to new and existing technology options that support business goals
Evaluates technologies and proposes technology position for the company within own VP organization

Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field of study
5+ Years Technical engineering experience
In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure design, including server, storage, networking, and cloud solutions
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform) for infrastructure management
Understanding of networking protocols, security frameworks, and disaster recovery strategies
Skilled at communicating goals in support of the business' mission
Self-motivated and capable of working well under pressure
Demonstrates the desire and ability to work collaboratively with others on a team
Proficient at ensuring that information is passed on to others who should be kept advised
Shows dedication to understanding and meeting external and/or internal customers’ needs
Adept at tackling problems using a logical, systematic, and sequential approach
Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and skill in a technical area
Excels at anticipating the implications and consequences of situations and taking appropriate actions to prepare for possible contingencies
Effective at gaining others' support for ideas, proposals, projects, and solutions
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
