We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations. You will be tasked with handling a variety of accounting tasks, including reconciling financial accounts, processing accounts payable and receivable, and providing administrative support to ensure the smooth functioning of our organization.
Job Responsibility:
Manage daily cash receipt entries and conduct weekly bank and investment account reconciliations
Oversee weekly accounts payable processing, from general ledger coding to vendor account maintenance
Assist with monthly grant calculations and reporting
Process monthly credit card and expense reports
Participate in budget development, tracking, and reporting activities
Maintain Fixed Assets and computer replacement schedule
Contribute to the Month-End close process
Perform financial analysis and assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Draft financial reports and maintain database/financial integration
Reconcile the database (Raiser’s Edge) to QuickBooks on a weekly basis
Maintain payment platform security, fees, etc.
Support fundraising ROI reporting and gift processing
Manage Business Insurance Maintenance and oversee state charity registration compliance
Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to the organization's facilities or leases
Ensure multi-state payroll tax compliance and 401(k) reporting compliance
Administer employee benefits and prepare 1099 and other tax forms
Requirements:
Proven experience in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Familiarity with maintaining and managing Fixed Assets
Proficiency in using QuickBooks for accounting tasks
Experience in performing Credit Card Reconciliation
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
Strong mathematical and analytical skills
Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy in work
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
Good communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
Understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements
Willingness to continuously improve and update knowledge and skills
