Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our non-profit organization. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with 3+ years of general ledger experience who thrives in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. The Staff Accountant will play a critical role in supporting multi-entity accounting functions, with a strong emphasis on managing accruals and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. You will have the opportunity to grow into a Sr. Accountant with our organization.

Job Responsibility:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts across multiple entities to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
Post journal entries, including month-end and year-end close activities, with a focus on accrual-based accounting
Prepare, analyze, and monitor accruals to ensure expenses are correctly recorded in the proper accounting period
Assist in the continuous improvement of accrual processes to streamline procedures and enhance efficiency
Handle accounting processes and financial statements for multiple entities within the organization, ensuring intercompany transactions are accurately recorded
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide timely and accurate financial data across entities
Assist in preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders
Support compliance with non-profit accounting standards, regulations (GAAP), and grant requirements
Contribute to audit preparations by ensuring accurate documentation and support for financial statements and transactions
Assist in maintaining and improving internal control procedures to ensure financial data integrity

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of 3 years of general ledger (GL) accounting experience, including a strong background in accruals and multi-entity environments
Proficiency in ERP/accounting software, advanced Excel skills
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical abilities, and a team-oriented mindset with effective communication skills
