The Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role at CVS Health by ensuring patient safety and leading pharmacy operations under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager. Responsibilities include prescription fulfillment, immunizations, inventory management, compliance with laws and regulations, and fostering a positive patient experience. Additional duties include maintaining skills through training and supporting clinical care initiatives where permissible.
Job Responsibility:
Living CVS Health's purpose by helping manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts without overlap
Strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow-up of pharmacy team members
Assumes Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties during their absence
Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures
Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
Proactively offering and delivering immunizations
Supporting the effective management of pharmacy inventory
Ensuring pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations
Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs
Writing pharmacy schedules when directed
Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills as the industry evolves
Supporting pharmacist-delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services
Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles
Complying with CVS policies and procedures to support patient safety.
Requirements:
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
Ability to actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner
Ability to use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
Ability to use math to solve problems such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
Ability to identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action
Ability to remain mobile and upright for extended periods
Ability to lift, scan, and bag items
Ability to reach overhead and move objects
Ability to perform repetitive and precise hand movements
Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force
Ability to comply with CVS Health policies, procedures, and relevant laws and regulations.
Nice to have:
1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.
