Job Description:

We are seeking a Tax Manager - Public to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role primarily focuses on the public sector, where you will be tasked with managing tax operations and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws. You will also be responsible for handling individual tax returns.

Job Responsibility:

Oversee and manage all tax operations in compliance with relevant tax laws
Prepare and review individual tax returns
Develop tax strategies to optimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with tax regulations
Provide guidance on tax implications of business investments and transactions
Coordinate with internal teams and external tax agencies and professionals
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and tax law developments
Implement and maintain the company's tax strategy
Evaluate tax regulations and suggest policies that diminish tax burden
Handle tax audits and resolve tax notices in a timely manner
Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial and tax audits

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Advanced degree in Taxation or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation highly desirable
Minimum of five years of experience in a public accounting firm or a similar setting
Proficiency in preparing and reviewing individual tax returns
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and meet strict deadlines
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in using tax preparation and accounting software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High level of integrity and professionalism
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be authorized to work in the United States
