Job Description:

Our client, a wealth management firm in Houston, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Manager. The role focuses on individual and family tax returns, Roth conversions, team leadership, and client relationship management. Applicants must be CPA or EA certified and have expertise in tax planning, compliance, and team management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review individual and family tax returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax laws
  • Conduct Roth conversion analysis and implement strategies for clients
  • Advise clients on tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize financial outcomes
  • Stay updated on changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance across all client accounts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and support
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to discuss tax strategies, financial goals, and investment opportunities
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide timely and accurate tax-related information
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and professional growth
  • Review and supervise the work of junior staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company standards
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of new team members
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and procedures, enhancing efficiency and accuracy
  • Implement best practices for tax preparation, review, and filing
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless and integrated client experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA or EA required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation and planning, with a focus on individual and family returns
  • Demonstrated experience with Roth conversions
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
