Job Description:

This role involves overseeing a team of Sales & Use Tax accountants, ensuring accurate tax reconciliation processes, and enforcing the policies of the Sales & Use Tax department in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee the Sales & Use Tax accountant team to ensure accurate and timely tax reconciliation processes
  • Collaborate with other departments and hotel individuals to ensure accurate taxability of taxable/non-taxable revenue
  • Identify and address causes of tax discrepancies in collaboration with other departments and hotel individuals
  • Take ownership of the reconciliation process to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Create and maintain excel reconciliations, tracking sheets etc. to ensure accurate and timely filings
  • Review and approve ACH and check requests for tax payments and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Review and post payment journal entries
  • Conduct monthly audits on select properties to ensure compliance in reporting exempt revenue
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Corporate tax returns
  • Assist with state and local tax audits
  • Assist with property transitions and setup in internal systems
  • Adhere to sustainability guidelines and practices related to the EarthView program
  • Practice safe work habits to ensure safety
  • Carry out other duties as requested by management

Requirements:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Hold a certified public accountant (CPA) license or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of five years of experience in corporate tax
  • Demonstrate expertise in Property Tax and Sales & Use Tax
  • Exhibit proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Show knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Display strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Show excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Have experience in tax planning and compliance
  • Show the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Be willing to stay updated on new tax laws and regulations
  • Display a proactive approach to risk management
