Job Description:
We are seeking a Teacher of Design and Technology to join a secondary school in Leeds on a full-time basis, starting ASAP until October 2025 to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to teach KS3 Design and Technology while also delivering four Art lessons each week. The role comes with the benefit of working with a welcoming and supportive faculty, with lessons and schemes of learning already prepared to help you hit the ground running.
Job Responsibility:
  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Design and Technology to KS3 students
  • Deliver four Art lessons each week, ensuring engaging and creative content
  • Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to improve outcomes
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, fostering a positive learning environment
  • Encourage students to explore their creativity and develop technical skills
  • Monitor and evaluate student performance, identifying areas for improvement
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of diverse learners
  • Work closely with the Design and Technology and Art departments to ensure consistent delivery of the curriculum
  • Support extracurricular activities linked to Design and Technology and Art
  • Contribute to the overall ethos and values of the school
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong subject knowledge in Design and Technology (with experience in Art desirable)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
Nice to have:
  • Experience teaching Art at KS3 level
  • Familiarity with a range of Design and Technology techniques and materials
  • Understanding of health and safety in a workshop setting
  • Ability to contribute to extracurricular activities and school events
  • A passion for fostering creativity and practical skills in students
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students
