Job Description:

We are in search of a Technical Writer to join our team in Glendale, California. As a Technical Writer, you will work closely with data engineers, software developers, and data product teams to develop and maintain high-quality documentation that supports the success of our data platform. This contract employment opportunity requires you to create both engineering-focused and user-centered materials, ensuring the usability and adoption of our data platform.

Job Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and other team members to understand project requirements and develop comprehensive documentation
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging content that caters to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Develop and maintain information architecture templates that support easy updates and data migration while adhering to organizational and legal standards
  • Conduct research and create various types of documentation such as procedure manuals, API developer guides, configuration guides, and in-platform instructions
  • Evaluate, organize, and update existing documentation repositories, working with development leads to establish content management and storage best practices
  • Create alternate formats for documentation, such as video demos and guided tours, to enhance user engagement and understanding
  • Assess the quality and effectiveness of current content, proposing and implementing innovative methods for continuous improvement
  • Gain a deep understanding of data products, services, and technical infrastructure to create accessible, user-friendly content

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience in technical documentation and training
  • Proficiency in developing procedures and policies
  • Ability to conduct comprehensive research and handle materials efficiently
  • Strong focus on quality and precision in all outputs
  • Familiarity with engineering principles and methodologies
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Experience in drafting financial notes and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to create effective charts and graphs
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and their application
  • Experience in video creation and editing
  • Familiarity with configuration management and storage solutions
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Experience using GitHub for version control and collaboration
  • Excellent collaborative skills, with the ability to work well in a team
  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Willingness to work onsite as required
